  • IASCNAPA Patient Scholarship Fund:

The association established as one of its goals to provide partial secondary education scholarships to individuals with sickle cell disease. Over 20 patients have been awarded scholarships. Funds for these awards have been raised through t-shirt, sweatshirt, lapel pin, and raffle ticket sales. While we have enjoyed these fund-raisers immensely, it is increasing more difficult to raise sufficient funds to cover scholarships, so the executive board has approved a raffle that will award monetary prizes.

This fundraiser is intended to be a "one-time" event. Our goal is to sell 10,000 raffle tickets at a cost of $5 per ticket, with prizes of $5000, $3000 and $2000 to be awarded. If our sales go as outlined, we would net $40,000 to be used for our scholarship program. We would then be able to award more generous scholarships to our qualifying students.

Ticket sales began at the National meeting in September 2002 and will continue at least through the Clinical Trials meeting in August 2003. The date of the raffle drawing will be announced after sufficient tickets have been sold to fund the prize money and patient scholarships. Sales will be conducted at all national meetings and any other event attended by IASCNAPA members. All members are expected to participate and may sell tickets to friends and family as well as at their local centers, churches or other events.

To buy tickets please call or email any of the IASCNAPA officers, or see the online order form.
