The Association shall strive to unite and organize sickle cell nurses and
physician assistants throughout the world in order to benefit professionals and patients.
The Association shall strive to establish guidelines for standards of nursing care for
individuals with sickle cell disease.
The Association shall strive to develop an international certification system for
professionals who provide care for patients with sickle cell disease.
Association members shall strive to maintain and increase the quality of individual
health care service to patients with sickle cell disease through both individual study
and collaborative clinical research study as well as through continuing education.
The Association shall support the development of research protocols that surface during sickle
cell studies funded by governmental or private agencies.
Association members shall use the knowledge and experience acquired as professionals working with
sickle cell patients to contribute to an improved community awareness of the needs of individuals
with sickle cell disease.
Association members shall strive to provide sickle cell education to their colleagues who work in
clinics, health departments, and private practice settings.
The Association shall strive to influence schools of nursing and physician assistant programs to
enhance their sickle cell curriculum.
Association members shall place service before material gain and shall carefully safeguard
gainst conflicts of professional interests.
